Known as the (vessel of the fish) it was used by just about every fertility god. For example, …Atargatis (the Syrian fertility goddess), and Aphrodite/Venus (the goddess of love and sex) to the pagan Great Mother goddess used it as a symbol. It was clearly a symbol of “lady parts”.
As we look deep into symbolism we often find a much different origin than the current explanation of that symbol. Many scholars admit the Fish Symbol or Ichthys (Koine Greek) has a very deep past tied to fertility goddess worship.
