What is our heart?

1 Samuel 16:7 But YHVH (God) said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. YHVH (God) does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but YHVH (God) looks at the heart.”

Having a good heart has always been what YHVH (God) is looking for. This doesn’t mean we can be disobedient just because we have good intentions.

If you break down the word HEART, it means….

I.inner man, mind, will, heart, soul, understanding
A.inner part, midst
i.midst (of things)
ii.heart (of man)
iii.soul, heart (of man)
iv.mind, knowledge, thinking, reflection, memory
v.inclination, resolution, determination (of will)
vi.conscience
vii.heart (of moral character)
viii.as seat of appetites
ix.as seat of emotions and passions
x.as seat of courage

So YHVH (God) is looking at our mind, soul, heart, knowledge, thinking, conscience, moral character, courage, emotions, passions, appetites…etc. The word HEART doesn’t mean what most think. The word HEART means our entire being; everything about us.

Yom Kippur / Day of Atonement blog

We’ve learned something during HIS last Holy Day called Yom Kippur/Day of Atonement. As time goes on we learn more each day. In the beginning of our journey we just took the day off to be compliant to HIS commands. The next year we studied more and took the day off and Fasted as commanded. As time has gone on, we study even more and learn even more. The Fast isn’t about compliance and it isn’t about us. It’s about HIM. It’s about reflection. It’s about giving up everything for one short evening to evening and just humbling ourselves to HIM. We aren’t blasting through a megaphone what we are doing. Most people don’t even know we do it, but we do. HE knows we do it and every year HE shows us more and more. This year was especially special.

Many things came into play to the point that the owner of where I work acknowledged the day and allowed me to miss the 2nd part of a two-day mandatory meeting. The owner also texted me to tell me that what is important to my family is important to his. My owner of where I work is Catholic and I did tell him that this day is not Jewish but for all of YHVH‘s (God’s) people; seeds planted. The important thing is that YHVH (God) gave me an avenue to celebrate HIM the way HE commands and that avenue was through an employer that accepted my request. They even cut the meeting I was in a bit short that day so I could go home and eat before the Fast. This meeting included about 16 people and everyone was let out early on the eve of Yom Kippur so I could get home and eat before sundown.

So this is where my thought process wandered during the Fast. As a child I was taught about Christmas and other pagan celebrations that were supposedly for HIM. As a young child I looked forward to those times and getting presents. As I grew into my late single digits I was taught that Christmas and Easter were about Jesus. As I grew older into my late 30’s I was taught that Christmas and Easter were actually pagan celebrations. As I grew older into my late 30’s and early 40’s I studied to learn that Christmas and Easter were not commanded and actually had roots from ancient pagan religions. As time has gone on, I’ve learned to weed through the lies and find the Truth; it HAS set me and my family free. It is sort of like the verse that says to get off the milk and on the meat. As a child I was taught nothing about the Holy Days. As I grew older I was never taught about the Holy Days except that they were Jewish. As I grew even older, I found that the Holy Days weren’t Jewish and were not just for the Jews. Just as I grew away from Christmas/Easter and other pagan celebrations, I’ve grown towards HIM. Every year HE continues to show me why I made the right decision. When we are young we don’t know but as we grow older it’s our duty to find the TRUTH; it will set you free. None of HIS Holy Days are about what it means to us, they are about what they mean to HIM.

Romans 10:4 End of the Law

Romans 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

The part that states “end of the law” comes from the Greek word telos (τέλος) which comes from the root word “tello” which can also mean “aim,” “purpose,” or “goal”

In English, the word “end” can have different meanings and when we study Scripture we must look at the words in their original format and to whom they were being written to. The following verses have “telos” meaning “goal”…

Romans 6:22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the goal (telos) is eternal life.”

1 Peter 1:9 “Obtaining as the goal (telos) of your faith the salvation for your souls.”

I Timothy 1:5 “The goal (telos) of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.”

Paul tells us many times that Torah is perfect (Rom 7:12) and by no means shall we do away with it but establish it through Faith in the Messiah (Rom 3:31).  The translators chose end for one verse and goal for other verses.  We believe translating as goal instead of end in Romans 10:4 is correct.

Bible Versions

Erasmus warned for years about the inaccurate Latin Vulgate and how the Roman Catholic Church had corrupted the sacred text. The Church did not allow its members to own a Bible. The Roman Catholic Church eventually lost the battle to suppress an English version of the Bible and created their own called the Douay-Rheims… The timeline of versions showed other English versions prior in which one was mass produced that was called “The Great Bible” and it was the 1st one to be allowed for public use. As King James came about he put together, with the help of others, the English Version that most know today. Many things taught in the Church are man-made doctrine and go completely against HIS Sacred Text. Jesus states in Matthew 5:18 “For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished”.

Man has made things pass from the Law or better said, Divine Instructions that was given to Moses and written down as Genesis-Exodus.

Legalism

The word Legalism predates Jesus by roughly 400 years. A man named Shang Yang, a Chinese Statesman, started the philosophy of rule by law. Fast forward roughly 400 years to the times of Jesus. HE never once taught or acted in a way that would infer His Father’s commands were legalistic. In fact, HE upheld the commands and taught those around Him to do the same.

Jesus said:

“But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one dot of the Law to become void”

“Has not Moses given you the law? Yet none of you keeps the law

“Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me”

“For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished”

The theology behind the following of commands making one a Legalist would then convict Jesus of the same offense.

Paul or Rav Shaul in the Bible

Who was Paul?

Acts 23:6 Now when Paul perceived that one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, “Brothers, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees. It is with respect to the hope and the resurrection of the dead that I am on trial.”

Acts 21:39 But Paul said, I am a man which am a Jew of Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city: and, I beseech thee, suffer me to speak unto the people.

Romans 11:1 I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.

Acts 24:14 But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:

When people twist Paul’s words into a person that was against the “LAW“, they are doing what 2 Peter 3:16 warns of.

So here we have it. Paul was a Torah observant Kosher Jew that believed in the Messiah. He was a Pharisee that Jesus came to and opened his eyes. Paul never taught to throw away any of the Law as most are taught. Being a Pharisee and believer made him part of a sect of Judaism called “THE WAY”. They were believers in the Messiah which went against everything Paul was taught.

Fish Symbol

The Jesus-Fish Symbol pre-dates Christianity and was used by the pagans in their worship of fertility gods. The symbol is actually a vagina.

Known as the (vessel of the fish) it was used by just about every fertility god. For example, Atargatis (the Syrian fertility goddess), and Aphrodite/Venus (the goddess of love and sex) to the pagan Great Mother goddess used it as a symbol. It was clearly a symbol of “lady parts”.

As we look deep into symbolism we often find a much different origin than the current explanation of that symbol. Many scholars admit the Fish Symbol or Ichthys (Koine Greek) has a very deep past tied to fertility goddess worship.

In Deuteronomy we all told to NEVER worship our God in the way the pagans worshipped theirs…

Martin Luther

Martin Luther was an anti-Semite. Later in his life he wrote “that all Jewish synagogues and homes should be destroyed, their money confiscated, and their liberty curtailed”.

Martin Luther also stated that “If I were younger I would want to learn this language (Hebrew), for without it no one can properly understand the Holy Scripture…. He then went on to say “For that reason they have said correctly: The Jews drink out of the original spring, The Greeks drink out of the stream flowing out of the stream, The Latins, however, out of the puddle.”

Have you replaced HIS commanded Celebration Days with those that are man made? Have you ever been taught to not worry about celebrating a certain Feast Day? If you have, you have been taught the opposite of what the Scripture says. Many people like Luther have come along and taught that certain ways of doing things are Jewish even though, in reality, they are biblical.  We were warned about this corruption of the Text and twisting of the meanings as it was happening to Paul’s letters by the time Peter wrote the following verses.

2 Peter 3:15 And account the long suffering of Master YHWH to be redemption; as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom conferred on him, wrote to you; 16. as also in all his letters speaking in them of these things in which there is something difficult to be understood; (and) which they who are ignorant and unstable pervert, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.

Paul was a Jew himself. He would have NEVER contradicted YHVH‘s teachings.

The 2nd coming of Christ is mentioned in the Bible 8 times the amount of times than the 1st coming was. The only way to know the signs is to study the Bible, know about the Feast Days, their meaning, celebrate them, and then one will recognize what is happening on the day HE returns. We are to worship in Faith not just in obedience but worshipping in Faith should bring about Obedience.

Yeshua’s Ministry

The ministry of haMashiach Yeshua was an administrative change to the Levitical Priesthood. This change did NOT void YHVH‘s expectations that we follow HIS Torah that was given to us in the beginning. The teachings of voiding the Torah came about from Theologians over the centuries.

Even in Revelation it shows that we are to Keep the Torah.

Revelation 12:17 Then the dragon became furious with the woman and went off to make war on the rest of her offspring, on those who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus.

Good Deeds

Many believe and are taught that “good deeds” don’t save us. Those same people then believe and have often been taught that “good deeds” are useless as they don’t bring about salvation. Take that one step further and those same people have thrown away Commands given by HIM telling us to do things HIS way. Many believe that the Jews thought they were saved by “good deeds” or “works”.  We believe the issue within the Jewish religion is the minutiae of their Rabbinical traditions. They have put extra or better stated, they have added to the commands.

Going all the way back to the beginning we can see that FAITH brought about Salvation and through that FAITH “good deeds/works” were a by-product.

Examples in nonspecific order.

Israelites painted blood because they had Faith.

Noah built the Ark because he had Faith.

Abraham left his homeland because he had Faith.

In the Old Testament, the word Faith appears 2 times. When it was written there was no definitive noun in Hebrew for the English word Faith. The concept can be realized by our examples as shown above.  Faith is not a new concept and to throw away doing any ” good deeds/works” because they don’t contribute to Salvation seems counterintuitive. Many are taught celebrating Feast Days are considered works but that is directly in conflict with what the scriptures state. The same goes for Dietary Law and many other commands in which the masses have been taught are not necessary.

Faith should bring about obedience and obedience should bring about good deeds and works.
