Renewed Covenant not New Testament

Did you know that when the New Testament was formed it was called the “RENEWED COVENANT”. We post that on our site when referring to which testament we are referencing. Think about that. It means to us that the OLD COVENANT was never done away with. It means that the OLD COVENANT is still in affect and was “RENEWED” by our Messiah and HIS followers. You may ask if we have some sort of proof? We like to use scripture to reproof scripture. So here is a verse about whether or not the New did away with the Old from the very popular Bible version called the NIV.

Hebrews 8:13 By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.

According to the NIV’s translation it seems like the “old” has been done away with completely.  But, we searched a little deeper and looked up another Bible version called the “The Scriptures” which we love.

Hebrews 8:13  By saying, “renewed,” He has made the first old. Now what becomes old and growing aged is near disappearing.

Take a look at that.  Completely different meaning.  So we went one step further and looked up the word “NEW” in Strongs and found this.

(New) comes from the Greek word (Kainos) which means:
a) as respects form
1) recently made, fresh, recent, unused, unworn
b) as respects substance
1) of a new kind, unprecedented, novel, uncommon, unheard of

All covenants with Yahweh (God) are renewed not just new.  While each covenant comes with an agreement, none of them throw away the old.  All covenants are recently made, fresh, unused, unworn, of a new kind, uncommon, but they ALL keep in place the agreement from before. As with ALL covenants between Yahweh (God) and HIS people there is a new covenant that occurs throughout time.  When Abraham received his covenant he didn’t throw away the rules of Noah’s covenant.  When Mosheh (Moses) received his covenant with Yahweh (God) he didn’t throw away the rules of Abraham’s covenant.  When Yehoshua (Joshua) received his covenant with Yahweh (God) he didn’t throw away the rules of Mosheh‘s (Moses) covenant. And the pattern continues on throughout history until we get to HaMashiach Yeshua (Jesus).  When Yeshua (Jesus) gave us HIS covenant HE never threw away the rules of His Father’s covenant that he gave every covenant receiver before Himself.  Look at what HE speaks verbally to Mattithyahu (Matthew).

Matthew 5:18 For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the TORAH until all is accomplished.

So if this isn’t convincing enough to see that the TORAH still exists and us as believers are expected to follow it we will give you one more reference.  It shows us that HE promised to give a “renewed” covenant in which he will attach his TORAH in our inward parts and attach it to our hearts and therefore NOT ONE person can say they don’t know HIM.

Jeremiah 31:33 For this is the covenant I shall make with the house of Yisra’?l (Israel) after those days, declares Yahweh (God) , I shall put My Torah (Law)  in their inward parts, and write it on their hearts. And I shall be their Elohim (God), and they shall be My people.

When Yahweh (God) sent His Ru’ach HaKodesh (Set Apart Spirit) to live inside of us HE didn’t do away with Torah.  HE actually raised the BAR to an even greater standard as now we have NO excuse for not following HIS Torah.  When we fail, we repent and that is what the “renewed” covenant is about.  Yahweh (God) did not drop the standard of Torah because Israel chose disobedience; rather, He installed a Renewed Covenant to write Torah upon the heart through the work of the Ruach haKodesh (Set Apart Spirit), according to Mashiyach (Messiah).

Yahweh (God) gave us the Spirit to glorify HIM so HIS people would stay on a path HE commands.  HE didn’t do it for our sake, HE did it to prevent from being shamed by us.  He sent HIS son for our sake.  HIS son was the living, talking, breathing Torah.  .  HIS son “magnified” Torah by living perfectly.

Isaiah 42:21 The Lord was pleased, for his righteousness’ sake, to magnify his law and make it glorious.

Very good. According to the King James Version at the Passover seder, Jeshua “renewed” the Old Covenant just as Jeremiah (in 31:31) stated a covenant “renewal” was to follow. Hebrew and Greek concur, the Law of God was not, nor cannot be done away with. Is it any wonder James, the brother of Jeshua, and the apostles practiced the Mosaic Law after the death of Jeshua. In fact, the entire world (with the exception those in Alexandria) kept the Sabbath for 400 years until Constatine outlawed the observance of the Lord’s Holy Day. Also may I add, it would be near impossible to convince the Muslims during the 6 Day War that God does not recognize the Jews as His chosen elect for they (the armies of Syria, Egypt, Jordon, Saudi Arabia) ALL saw the “Hand of God” in the sky and ALL heard God speek saying “LEAVE MY PEOPLE ALONE.” They not only obeyed the Word of God, they left all their weapons, machinery, and food and walked home. They kept looking over their shoulder towards Jerusalem to view the great multitude of armed angels on horses dressed in white protecting the Lord’s Holy City. The Muslim generals documented all that they saw and heard so that no one can dispute what happend in 1967. And what DAY did God reveal himself to the Muslim armies … the Sabbath (Saturday), His Holy Day! Did not the Lord tell Abraham that all those who bless Israel will be blessed and those who curse (speak falsely about) Israel will be cursed? Furthermore, God told Moses that all nations of the world are assigned a guarding angel, but Hashem Himself would always be the guarding of Israel … and He still is. The Jews, therefore, are still the priests of the sacred Torah whose High Priest being the Messiah, a Jew – the anointed ONE of God.

And the Jews, who are hated by Christianity, kept the Torah and protected it against haSatan. Their MAIN flaw is their disbelief in our Messiah. We truly believe them adding to Torah and teaching it as Biblical is also a flaw but if it were not for them receiving the scepter and protecting HIS divine instructions, mankind would never know what YHVH commanded.
